INVESTMENT FRAMEWORK GROUP
The Central Corridor light rail project presents an historic opportunity for neighborhood revitalization, sustainable regional growth, economic development, and transformation for the Twin Cities. To fully reap these benefits, it is vitally important for the region, the state and each individual jurisdiction to leverage this $1 billion public investment by encouraging private investment along the Corridor.
The Investment Framework Group formed to develop a coordinated public investment strategy for the jurisdictions that play funding and regulatory roles across the Corridor. This framework looks comprehensively and long-term at planned investments and development-related policies in the Corridor, providing a more predictable environment for private investment and helping to direct public dollars where they best attract desirable development.
Public investments in the Corridor go beyond the line itself and include improved pedestrian connections from surrounding neighborhoods, streetscape enhancements, and other improvements. Beyond increasing mobility, transit-oriented development can benefit communities by reducing carbon emissions, improving quality of life, and preserving housing affordability.
